NJ ASK = A young child's nightmare!

The NJ Ask is given to children from grades 3 - 8 yearly. This means all children in NJ have to suffer a whole week of torture from teachers. Their some good things that come with this and they are like you don't have homework for the whole week allowing your brain to relax and also letting you get some fresh air and play with your friends that you usually don't get to see. I take the NJ Ask as an assessment used to to torture children and make them feel like this will be the worst thing to happen to them through the five years they will take it. This years NJ Ask was really easy, it's questions were more easier to understand and the overall test was really easy. I found that the math section was the easiest because I like math a lot more than English and writing. Different children experience the test different according to what level they are in. Children in level 1 might think the test is easy but children in level 2 might think the test is extremely hard. If the NJ Ask was not around, surely a lot more children would like going to school. For the years I went to school I learned that half the things we learn in school are about how to finish your test or essay before a certain time limit the teacher gives you all preparing you for the NJ Ask. If the NJ Ask hadn't of  been around now, we would have a huge decrease from our average weekly homework. I never had a soft spot for tests and probably never will. As easy as the NJ Ask is, I still dislike it very much. I believe that the NJ Ask is a very big mistake in America's history. It might be part of the "No child left behind program," but if children still fail the Ask then what is the point of spending money to make a test to "Find a child's abilities." We don't need stupid tests to tell the teacher or some test maker what we are capable of learning because as the school year progresses, teachers and students form a bond with each other and by that way, teachers find out what we are capable of and what we exceed in. Children's lives are already hard, we look at many things with disgust and NJ Ask is one of them!

Seeking fun in a short life

"Doctor we need immediate help!" Shouted the old nurse.
His heart was slowing down,  breaths were getting smaller and smaller. His skin was very pale and looked almost like a zombie. Angelica looked at Jonathan in a scared look. "Do something!" She shouted at Jonathan with tears in her eyes.
He just stood their emotion and motion less. Soon Chris was being  escorted to the emergency room where he was taken into surgery. His state was very serious but he got out alive. "Chris, I am very sorry to say but, you only have two weeks to live." The doctor stated.
Angelica and Jonathan had just changed their grins to mad faces. All they could do is think to themselves is how unfair life is by giving this child such a horrible disease and making him squeeze his life into these short 14 days. Chris just lay their thinking. He called over his friends and said he wanted to have the best time on earth these 14 days he has left to live. "That is an awesome idea!" Angelica shouted quietly.
The next day, Angelica's mother picked up Jonathan and Chris from the hospital. They all knew Chris loved riding dirtbikes and atvs. Before he had been diagnosed, he had attended every single race in the 250cc category. He even raced on amateur tracks himself. "Here we are!" Shouted Angelica's mother.
Chris's eyes gleamed with eternal happiness and anyone who looked at him cold tell he knew what was going to happen. It was a huge stadium with the name "FX*Freestyle*FX". As soon as you got out of the car you could here the dirtbike engines roaring and smell the fumes of a two stroke engine. "So what do  you think ?" The mom asked Chris.
"I love it!!" Chris shouted in happiness.
The both of them never saw this happiness in Chris since he had been told he had blood cancer. Chris was first to rush in the mom checked out and while she was, the lady at the counter noticed Chris had cancer. To be sincere she took 50% of their bills. Then the mom announced  that they were staying for two straight weeks. Chris tried to give off a smile but couldn't help feel the horrible pain. He knows too much strain for his body is not good and can really shorten his life span. The lady gave them the keys to their room and they took the elevator. When they arrived by their room, it was very different from the others. It had two doors combined like a castle while all the others had single doors. the mom opened the doors and let out a very big gasp that scared Chris. All three of the children ran and looked at highest grade in rooms in that whole stadium. It consisted of four king size beds, three plasma tv's, four special edition adio dirtbikes and free wifi. "This is even better than my dream house that I drew in my bed!" Chris shouted while regreting it at the same time.
They all got dressed and and went downstairs to go riding right as they were entering the arena, mom's phone rang. "Hello?" The mom anwsered
"Oh, Hello this is Dr. Rushwell from Chris's hospital. We have news about Chris." Doctor replied.
"Good or bad?" The mom asked.
"Well, the scale read Chris's state wrong, he actually has two years to live and will probably breakthrough cancer at that time!" The doctor shouted.
" Oh my GOD!" The mom screamed and told Chris.
The whole group jumped in circles with happiness while the doctor was still on the phone jumping too. Just remember, you can't always trust technology, just follow your heart and you'll surely get where you're heading to.

"We need men who can dream of things that never were!"

We all can only dream of things we want but never get them. "We need men who can dream of things that never were." - John F. Kennedy. I very much agree with Kennedy because dreaming is a big part of failing, succeeding and life. We all can yearn for an object or thing that is too expensive or just your parents won't let you get. But, rarely, and I know this because I yearned and still do for many things, you get that object or idea and you feel like the Buddha all over again and i can say it's a great feeling! Not always you will feel like the enlightned one, most of the time your let down but that shouldn't keep you from trying!
I myself have experienced many of these situations. One time I wanted a new dirt bike because my old one had a cracked carburetor and a horrible down shift which only allowed it to accelerate slowly. It also had a four stroke engine which is really bad for racing and only good for trail riding which I barely did. I wanted this new 2009 Kawasaki kx100 with a two stroke engine and KIPs which is a short name for a fuel injection system. It was a very powerful dirtbike for those times. It's acceleration rate was mad crazy that it went from 0-60 in 2.7 seconds. A new one costs $2500 but a used is around $1200. My parents thought I was crazy and looked at me in those disgusted looks. My dad first responded with a whole lecture on spending money and saving up money for a thing you like. I zoned out halfway through the talk and just said "mhhm" mindlessly. After that my mom came in and started talking about how I want so many things and to that I listened to so she could remind of the things I need to purchase. Unfortunately, I am still waiting for the dream to come true.
Many famous people dream of things that they wish were theirs. A rapper who was famous in his young ages called Bow Wow wanted a Maybach which is a very expensive car. The cars come fully loaded with a couch, a tv, a fridge,a ps3 or xbox360, wireless internet able to reach up to 1100 kb/s which very fast. Last but not least you can get the cheapest black leather or the two most expensive editions with the maroon or burgundy which mean you have very deep pockets. It was his 21st birthday and he wanted to make it special. His mom agreed to get him the Maybach behind his back so he doesn't find out. When the party started, he got a Lamborghini Gallardo Voodoo edition which was not as good as the Maybach, but still very high class. Not all dreams come true even for the rich people. They might seem like they have everything, but when it comes to spending money, they become very careful and greedy.
Dreaming is all about luck and chances in the way I see it. It's just another way to imagine that thing is their, but finally when you get to touch it you wake up. Dreaming is a nice way to set goals for the bad. I wish dreaming about school was possible, but with the minds we children have these days, it is a 1 out of 1000000000 chances that we will.

Teachers should not be a part of SCHOOL!!

Teachers are and probably will be a big part of school until the world ends. They teach you things, keep you in a orderly fashion and unfortunately make us obey rules which only regard to students not teachers. Teachers can really irritate children sometimes when the "relieve" their anger on them or make up this dumb saying on how not doing your homework is like going to jail in real life for not paying taxes or something. These kind of things scare children and make them try their best on homework and make them stay up to ten or twelve o' clock just to make that little smile on your teacher shine. Some children must really hate looking at a teachers teeth because they never do their homework. Hate is a strong word to use on someone and many children use it on teachers.
First, teachers are the ones that run the show meaning they control the children and the class and do whatever they like just to lower our dignity or ruin our mood to match theirs. Many teachers are in the middle of their lives and trying to make the best of it so they make their days all perfect and ours horrible. All they do is give children a lot of writing to do so they just sit around and relax while children are literally ripping their hands off just to finish writing before the period ends and get a good grade. Teachers are just like skunks, they look innocent on the outside but on the inside this stinky, disgusting, and mean attitude is waiting to get out on someone once the superintendent or principal gets out of the room.
Second, teachers would be replaced by famous actors or at least fun people who have no rules and let children scream out answers without raising their hands and every time they got an answer right you got a piece of gum to chew at that time. Their gym teacher would be Ken Block and would give the teens and children the main lay out on driving stick shift cars and automatics. That would give them an advantage in the future when teens are just learning to drive they are all ready drifting and double clutching their way to the mall or any other type of store. This is a lesson that should be taught in every school and not that math or writing we usually do but real life lessons about driving, making a living, and building a house.
All and all, teachers should just change up their schedules and make school a lot more like the real world so we adapt to the things adults face in everyday life like driving, getting paid, and paying and bills and the most important of all, trying to keep a strong and good relationship. Some just might be too serious for teens but everything you throw at them they will do it and with pride. If you don't want to change the way our schedules work then no teachers PERIOD!

School uniforms are despicable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"Personal liberty is the paramount essential to human dignity and human happiness." (Bulwer) Their has been an ongoing debate on if their should be uniforms in school. Many people (parents) are saying yes and many people (children) are saying no. Their shouldn't be any uniforms in school. There are many reasons why their shouldn't be uniforms and here are some. Uniforms deny self-expression which is a very big deal for all children. They have no style that relates to the self expression. Also, the uniforms are very uncomfortable and made out of fake fabric.

Self-expression is a very big thing and always will be. People these days take it very seriously and if you insult someones clothes they will get all mad and probably smack someone. Self-expression is like writing your own name, everybody knows it's yours. Uniforms are not something you choose to wear, you have to wear them by force. Well, uniforms can be made to please everybody's taste and style. You obviously can't wear sneakers and there will be no vibrant colors that make clothes pop. Persay my style was neon green with black, no one would allow that to be the colors and you can't take everyone's styles and put them together. This is a problem that children cannot live without.

Having uncomfortable clothes literally ruins my day. If their itchy it's even worse for me because they make me mad and angry and ruin other peoples days too because I lash out on them. Also the uniforms can be rough from cheap or fake materials used in them. Having to keep moving the uniform to not get a rash can distract a student from learning and doing work. This could also affect their overall grades at the end of a year and some can just make your day and some can just ruin it. If the uniforms are made out of cotton it would be okay but a wild guess out of the blue would probably say no. Cheap materials will actually make the uniform give rashes to students and that will allow people to sue the school. The school is not allowed to use cheap materials only ones that satisfy. But, the last time I checked schools were on low budgets. This problem will impact the most.

STYLE. It's a very big thing once you come to middle school. Everyone judges you on your clothes. You have to keep up to date on the new style or you will be laughed at a lot. If uniforms become a part of our school, style will not be a part of our teen society. At least in our schools. All schools use special companies that make the uniforms for them. In those companies, almost 90% of the workers are old people which we all know have no apparent style. They use these dull ugly world war one colors that rather than cheer you up make you gloom and sad. Also, if the colors are going to involve black, which they probably are, will make us even hotter on warm and sunny days. Some old stylists have style and taste from this era. Yes I agree but we can't afford them. This problem will make the school spirit lessen by a lot.

Uniforms are a very uneeded piece of school. They can be very uncomfortable and very itchy. They can also have no style because old people make them. Last but not least they deny self-expression which is super important. I hope this persuades you to get you into a state of action about this situation and finally end this democracy!

Sincerely,

Emil Kowalski

I was one of those gamers buying from your company and waiting until you bring out those big guns but I figured you won’t so I am now helping those people’s dreams come true. I hope you read this over to let your company go on for the better.

What I liked about my commercial

My commercial was very funny and creative from my point of view. There were some things I could and will fix for the next time I'm doing this type of project. I liked my piece of art because It was very funny, it had some action, and of course I was in it. I might seem very egoistic or self-centered, but I'm not.
I felt I was good at being a wierd actor, changing voices to give the video a affect, and acting very-well. I was also good at improvising and acting out my scenes which fit me perfectley. There were good areas but also bad areas. Some area's I could of improved on are singing because there was a skit on singing but Nihit and I could not pull it off. Another thing I could improve on is shooting video fast because it took us atleast 3 hours to film a whole video. Also to stay on topic about shooting videos, camera techniques. I know I might be a technology freak but I can say with all my heart that I cannot and probably never will be a good video recorder. I have used many persuasive strategies but I could of use a little more to keep the vibe going. Some techniques I could of used were speaking like famous people to entertain the audience. I also could of danced in my commercial to aslo entertain the audience. My goals for my next commercial is to be more ellobrotive and creative as I tried to be in this video but I seemed to fail. These are the things I enjoyed and tried to improve on.

My ad is one of a kind!

There is many companies to choose from to put my commercial on T.V. but I don't have a chance. My commercial is one of the two million waiting to be advertised and I'm pretty sure there is some more important and richer companies then mine that will virtually be advertised before mine. There is many ways to get my commercial on T.V. Some are just plain hard but some are really easy. I can bribe them but it would be too original. The in the middle option is persuading them by an essay. I chose the essay because I am used to writing and its easiest for me. I think my commercial should be chosen because I am new to the business empire and hope that it will work out for me. I have many things to offer from my products and I want to expose that to my audience so that everyone is greeted to my products. I also want to make some money out of this product because so much of my time and money was put into this that it is not even funny. It would also make my mother very proud of me and tell her that I can get somewhere in life and make decent money out of it. It would also teach me responsibility which my dog was suppose to teach me but instead it showed me what good friends are. Also I think you should advertise my commercial because I believe my object can beat any object in its category and will improve the way society functions by a lot. It also brings technology to the next level by making the processor mega fast allowing multi-tasking to be a breeze and playing games to be a breez too. I hope you understand my needs and allow my commercial to run on T.V. Also I would like it to be on a gaming channel because I believe it will get the most attention out of that audience.

Brisk awesomness!!

There was and is many commercials on T.V. that I enjoy watching but this one caught my eye the most of all. It was premiered in the super bowl's famous commercials and it really caught my eye. The title of this commercial is Eminem's Brisk commercial in which he advertises Nestea Brisk Ice Tea. I like this commercial because my favorite rapper Eminem is in it and I grew up with brisk. My first contact with Brisk was when I was nine and I was at Shawnee Mt. Ski resort but I was snowboarding in a competition. The grand prize was $5,000 and a sponsership from Brisk or Red Bull. It was me and a whole bunch of kids and teenagers. I still remember this boy named David who was the best guy out thier. He won first place and took the sponsership from Red Bull so the person in second place person got the Brisk sponsership and I got stickers, new Burton bindings and a autographed T-shirt. I really thought that Brisk was a more well-paying sponser but I guess I was wrong. Also, another reason i chose this commercial is that it is cartoon like and I really like picture motion which means that someone takes a picture for every second of the movie and moves a character very-slowly each time which creates a cool effect that that object is moving. Another thing that has to do with filming of the commercial is that I like how the background while each scene changes. I don't think I could of chosen a better commercial to write about and describe!

A lesson about jobs well learned!

For the past month or so, we have learned about applying for college, writing resumes, writing letters of recommendation and of course being interviewed for a job. My favorite of all the topics was being interviewed. I liked this of all the topics because you got to talk and not get in trouble for it. A big bonus was that you got to talk about things and topics you liked and it wasn't any random conversation you have with a friend or parent. some things I learned on this are that applying for a job is much harder than I thought it was and I know what the difference between hard and easy. Also I never knew or probably would ever know that you have to type a college essay as a part of your application to college. I never thought that you need a college essay because my parents never mentioned anything like it  and I am pretty sure my parents and I talk about school all the time, so I find that kind of ironic.
Also, I thought that colleges accepted people by students going to the college and taking a test course similar to the SA but, I guess i was wrong. Another thing I learned is that conversations with someone in a higher stance than you is much much harder as I imagined it would be in my mind. I believe it is harder than talking to a friend because that person is towering over you with power and that makes me very uncomfortable. Many things were learned during this lesson, but these made me think the most and I thought were totally new to me.

Global warming!

You may have heard about all the rustle about global warming and the world ending and how we ourselves are ruining the earth and it's objects. I believe the earth is not going to die because it is solid rock and can withstand anything. It's more likely that we will die because of what we are doing and the needs of our lives. One big thing people are trying to do is convince automobile companies to make hybrid cars. As we all know hybrid means it uses two or more power sources to power itself or something. In this case we are using gasoline which harms the environment and electricity based engines, this still harms the environment and is not fully electric. So, it helps the problem but does not solve it as many people think. Their are many fully electric cars but they cost big stack of cash to buy or to maintain. One of my family members bought a brand new 2011 Chevrolet Volt on Christmas and hated it. He said you have to charge it which takes the same amount of money of electricity costs as gasoline prices so their is no difference. Also, because of the high voltage the car puts out it causes the gears to wear away extremely fast. It took my cousin only two rides to completely make his gears dull. That brings in an extra cost. The only good thing is the oil free breaks and spark plugs. If you add up the costs of maintenance and electricity for this vehicle it is pretty much the same cost of a normal cars gasoline and maintenance. Many people use solar panels that I believe people will use until the Sun's power runs out. They convert solar energy into electricity or for heating water. These power savers are not as expensive as electric cars and are easy to install. I think these are the most common things used to save power and conserve energy. I feel that global warming is important and people should start taking it more seriously because they will only start to understand when it is actually happening.

Technology in school, pro or con?

Technology has one of the fastest growing popularities in America and around the world. I woudn't be able to live in a world without T.V's and computers. Every household in America has some sort of technology that makes thier lives easier. Even my grandparents have some sort of technology that they use daily like a computer or a T.V. Technology has be used so much that some person thought of putting it in  schools and he was good for doing that. Over the past years people have been arguing if thier should be technology in schools and if it should be part of lessons that teach students how to type faster or make blogs like i am doing right now. I believe there should be technology involved in schools because you basically learning more by learning how to use a computer and how to use it's key features.
Communication has also been affected by technology in some ways. for example, in the old days you would write a letter or go to that persons house to talk. But these days you rarely go over someone's house and you usely find yourself texting or calling some one. For example, when I asked my friend to come over so we could hang out, he said no. But when I asked him to text he said sure. Also, if a teacher announces you have to write a hand written essay, everyone screams and says they rather type. All I am trying to say is that technology has totally changed people talk and spend time with each other. Children now a days are basically learning more thatn before because they are learning about technology and about the topic the teacher is talking about. I hope that in the near future people will invent a newer way of sending hand written letters!

Ms. Carrol, this is I!

Hi Ms. Carrol, I am really happy to meet you and I am dearly happy to have you as my temporary teacher! I hope me and my class fit your regulations and your view of our class. In my own way I will try to make your life easier so that you don't have to think twice about being a teacher that expands childrens thinking abilities and expands thier vocabulary. Thier is many things that get my knickers in a twist but, these are the ones I noticed since I was a small child. One I've had since I was probably born, is technology. A single hack in technology gets my adrenaline rushing and blood pumping. My first technological success was back in the third grade in Mrs. Yesalavich's class. Our assignment was to make our first powerpoint about anything we wanted. I chose to display something about computers and video games. So, I went home and started up my old Dell XPS deskstop. I went on Microsoft powerpoint 2003 and clicked on "new". I remember this day just like it was yesterday. I accidentley clicked ALT three times and and enter after. Suddenly, a screen popped up and said "controller disclaimed further". So, I clicked enter and the hack menu popped up. I chose the free case option which unlocks all your computers abilities and lets you have unknown sources on your computer
My second favorite thing is snowboarding. I own a Burton Clash twin snowboard with K2 Formula bindings and Forum Sherpard boots. Snowboarding is one of my favorite sports that only comes once a year so I go more often than a usual person would. I learned how to snowboard in the fourth grade and was introduced to it by my good friend Micheal. He also snowboards but, we never got to go on a slope together but we are hoping for it. Last year I just got into jumping and doing tricks. I learned 180's and 360's at first and then started to get into grabs and grinds. My favorite trick is one I made up and it's called a osey. I call it that because when your in the air you grab the nose of your board and lean foward so it looks like your taring at the ground.
Many of these things are obvious about me but they are crucial to my life!

My Furure Career Goals

Many children want to be rich and famous when they grow up, but I set up some more realistic goals for me. I have two decisions that I seem to argue over with myself. The first one is a DJ because I just love how music fuels life and love which those two fuel the world. So, actually music fuels earth and its people. I believe without music our world would fall apart eventually or be as plain as a white t-shirt. Even great artists like Leonardo Da Vinci used music as a tool in their paintings. He said himself, that the beat of the music grasps artists hands into the flow of the music. I think that music is the art and the artist making unbelievable art for our ears to listen to and rumble in the sound of the thumping bass. DJ's are also involved in technology which I'm very good at extremely advance in. My other choice is a software designer which also works with technology and computers. My two almost favorite things. Basically, in this job you design computer software that helps or makes a computer users life easier and personalizable. I think computer users want more options and features to make thier computer thier way and everyone says your way is the easier way. So, what the cusstomer wants, the customer gets. Also, some older people might want thier computers to be more simpler and and easier to use. I always feel I can't keep up with technology. As I get used to something new I got, something newer comes out with way better software and make my piece of technology look like a piece of trash laying in a corner. All it is, is part of business and advertising the object.
Another thing I would like to set as my goal is to get no lower than a 3.0 average in high school so that good colleges see me as a priority not a muscle jockhead pest. The big things are all at high school. The most out of your entire school year matters the S.A.T you take for a college to accept you. It is the big stump, like my dad likes to call it because it tests you on everything you learned their is a wad of pressure in the air that makes you feel jittery. It's like taking the NJ ASK but much harder. Goals are a big part of life, and without them thier would be no creativity.

Kowalski.resolutions

It is almost considered a New Year’s tradition to have a resolution. If you don’t have one your considered a bum with no life or a life-less person. One of my resolutions for the year 2011 is to take shorter showers and conserve more warm water that uses electricity to make. So, basically I use two energy sources that I can conserve but choose not to for my own pleasure. It also gets on my parents nerves on how long I stay in the shower using up all the warm water that they would like to us instead of the usual cold water. One example of this happening was just yesterday when my dad came storming in through the door and telling me to get out when I just started putting on soap, which kind of caught me off hand. To make sure I do not break my resolution, I will set a timer for ten minutes maximum and if I exceed for which I consider a short amount of time, I will snap a trusty rubber band as hard as I can on my hand to make me remember. Out of all my thought up resolutions, I think this one will affect and impact my parents, the world, and me.
